Hey business owner,
I was on a call this week with one of you who is paying a ghostwriter and still editing every draft.
His words: some of the drafts she sends over are so far away from my voice it’s unusable.
1 hour per draft, 3 drafts a week. He signed up for done-for-you and got a proofreading job.
Here is what I told him.
Build your team a voice doc from your last 10 posts
Whether you have a video team or a writing team or a content director, the first foundational document they need is a voice and tone guide.
We collect this during our onboarding, but the easiest way to do it is to speak into an LLM and have it capture all of your ums, your ahs, your slang, your catchphrases, and even the way you transition sentences while telling stories.
Do this:
Pull your 10 highest-performing posts from the last 90 days into one doc and mark 5 phrases you always say next to 5 you would never say.
List the 3 facts about your business that get misquoted most (pricing, offer name, company stage) with the correct version of each.
Interview yourself with AI and have it dissect your speech.
We have been doing this for 4+ years across dozens of niches, and every client's voice doc gets built from their own top 10 posts before we write a word. If you want drafts that sound like you before you open them, see if you qualify to work with us (link).
Your video is the source document
One of the easiest ways to circumvent this as well as to have what I call a stream of consciousness.
Whether it's a podcast, call recordings, or YouTube videos.
You are tapping into your brain directly as a source for information for all content that drives the engine forward.

Or just reply to this email. I reply to everyone.
Hope this helps.
Cheers.
Marcos
